A watchtower farmhouse on the Ionian Sea
The heart of the masseria dates back to the 1500s, when the Bishop of Ugento wanted a residence from which enemy ships could be spotted between Torre Mozza and Torre Pali. In the 1745 land register (Catasto Onciario) it was called «Grotta Capozza»: the natural cave that is home to the SPA today.
The old stables have become the restaurant, and the farm managers' quarters are now rooms with exposed stone and fireplaces. All around, 60 hectares of protected parkland with olive and almond trees.

Before you go
Where is Masseria Rottacapozza?
In Torre Mozza, the seaside village of Ugento (Lecce), on the Ionian coast of Salento, 900 metres from the sea. Gallipoli, Santa Maria di Leuca and the villages of Specchia and Presicce are all a short drive away. The nearest airport is Brindisi (80 km), and a 24-hour transfer service is available.
Is the SPA really in a cave?
Yes. The wellness centre is set in a natural cave in the northern part of the masseria: a hydromassage pool with heated spring water, a steam cave with essential oils, a sauna, a chromotherapy shower, a relaxation area and a herbal tea corner. Outside there is also a jacuzzi among the olive trees with a view of the sea.
Can I use the SPA without staying at the masseria?
Yes, with the day SPA packages. «A day at the masseria» includes a 60-minute SPA circuit, a light lunch, the outdoor pool, the sun terrace and parking.
How do I book a package?
Choose your package, enter the date and number of guests and send the request: the masseria will reply to confirm availability. There is no online payment.
Does the masseria have a beach?
Yes, Rottacapozza Lounge Beach on the Lido Marini coast, with parasols, sunloungers, a beach bar-restaurant and a shuttle from the masseria at set times.
Is the property accessible to guests with reduced mobility?
The masseria is a historic building on several levels and is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility. If you have particular needs, please contact us before booking.
